-
Specialized Lab testing
I order labs to rule out medical conditions and nutritional deficiencies that may be contributing to your mental health symptoms. I can also order specialized lab testing to assess adrenal, hormone, and gut function.
-
Supplements and herbal medicine
I prescribe nutraceuticals, herbs, and supplements to support your mental health. If you are already taking supplements, I help you optimize your regimen and make sure there are no medication interactions.
-
nutritional psychiatry
A well-nourished brain is one of the foundations of holistic mental health, and recent studies have shown that nutrition can have a powerful effect on psychiatric symptoms. We take a careful look at your diet and formulate a plan to support your brain with nutrition, which may include a referral to a nutritionist.
-
Lifestyle Medicine
We discuss your habits and routines and come up with a plan to adjust your lifestyle to support your mental health. This can include working on things like movement, restorative sleep, stress management, and relationship to technology. I support you in making realistic changes that you can sustain over time.
-
Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy
My practice is focused on psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Our sessions are a space for you to speak freely, and we focus on manifestations of the unconscious including dreams and slips of the tongue. I am also trained in other modalities of psychotherapy including CBT and motivational interviewing, and I have done additional training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the New Center for Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles.
-
Psychedelic Integration
I offer support for processing past psychedelic experiences. Psychedelic experiences can sometimes be extremely disruptive and result in new symptoms - if this is the case, we come up with a plan to support you and bring you back into balance.
-
MEDICATION TAPERING SUPPORT
I support people in reducing or stopping psychotropic medication(s) if clinically indicated. Many patients struggle with withdrawal symptoms when stopping medications, and I have learned that a careful taper combined with lifestyle interventions can help people successfully discontinue meds. Supporting people who want to come off of medications is a passion of mine, and I have published on this topic.
-
MEDICATION MANAGEMENT
If I do think you will benefit from a medication, I emphasize informed consent and make sure you understand the risks and benefits. I use the lowest effective dose possible to minimize side effects. I seek to first understand the meaning(s) you attribute to psychiatric medications prior to prescribing, so I typically do not immediately start new medications with new patients.
APPOINTMENT LOCATIONS
Appointments are available virtually via telemedicine for patients who live in California.
In-person appointments are available at my office in Silver Lake.
Free 20-minute introductory calls are available for potential new patients.
WORKING TOGETHER: WHAT TO EXPECT
1: free 20-min intro call
I offer free 20-minute introductory phone calls for potential new patients. This call is a time to hear a little bit about why you are seeking support, talk about whether working together might be a good fit, and answer any questions you have about me or my practice approach. From here, we can schedule our intake appointment.
2: INTAKE QUESTIONNAIRE
Before our first appointment, I send you a detailed intake questionnaire that asks about your history, lifestyle, and goals. I also ask that you share any pertinent medical records and past labs. I go over this information meticulously before the intake appointment so we can dive right into our work together when we meet.
3: INTAKE appointment (90-120 min)
I have found that making time for a lengthy appointment to get to know my patients upfront allows us to get to the roots of the issues faster. This is a time for your to tell your story and get into details about how your symptoms are affecting your life. I will ask questions to better understand your history, screen for specific conditions, and identify areas where we can intervene.
4: information gathering
Depending on your specific history, I order labs to screen for medical conditions and nutritional deficiencies that could be contributing to your symptoms. If you have a psychotherapist, I connect with them. I may send you psychiatric scales that help me get a clearer picture of your symptoms and establish a baseline that will help us track your progress over time.
5: FOLLOW UP APPOINTMENTS (45 min)
The initial follow-up appointment is typically scheduled 2-4 weeks after the intake. At this appointment, we will review your labs and any additional information and discuss your treatment plan. From here, we will schedule a follow-up appointment approximately every 2-4 weeks for the first 3 months of care, depending on the severity of your symptoms and the level of support you are seeking. For patients who choose to see me for psychotherapy, I offer weekly appointments at a reduced rate. My long-term patients are typically seen once every 1-3 months.
6: REFINE TREATMENT PLAN
Throughout our work together, we continue to refine your holistic treatment plan that may include nutrition recommendations, lifestyle and mind-body interventions, functional laboratory testing, psychotherapy, supplements, and prescription medications (only if necessary and at the lowest possible dose). I am available via my online portal for any questions that come up between appointments.

I am not in-network with any insurance companies, though PPO insurance plans with out-of-network benefits will typically reimburse a portion of my fees. I am happy to help you understand your out-of-network insurance benefits for psychiatry and psychotherapy if you have a PPO plan.

We meet for a 90 or 120-minute intake initially, choosing the intake length depending on how complicated your psychiatric history is. If you are new to psychiatry, we will start with a 90-min intake. Patients with multiple hospitalizations, severe symptoms, or multiple failed treatments typically require a longer initial intake.
45-minute follow up appointments are then scheduled every 2-4 weeks while you have active symptoms that you would like to address. Once you feel stable with your current treatment, we meet for at least 45 minutes every 3 months if I am prescribing medications. If I am prescribing a controlled substance, we meet for 25 minutes at least once per month.
Patients that see me for psychotherapy weekly (or more frequently) are offered a reduced rate.
